the initial thumbnail composition was inspired by Witness The Eeveelution, a video by mistyzbettr2, which i found when looking for 'an eevee love story' videos i used to watch as a tween. the jolteon one really resonated so i decided to steal the general layout for this piece.... i saved this thumbnail sometime in january this year, tucked away for later (which turned out to be two months from then).

this one had three iterations in total, the final one included. the first two were when i was kind of just settling for something, but i kept finishing and going, no, this isn't what i wanted to make, actually. usually i will end up 'settling' on something, just to call it 'done'. but i was really invested in making it match my initial vision more...

here's the first iteration, and here's the second iteration, both on their own. sorry for no alt text on these. first one is the same composition with less clouds and a pale blue sky, which makes for a more peaceful, dawnlike color profile. the second has some clouds, but the lighting range is more reddish to teal, like a sunset. in both of these there is a spiral in the sky that i opted not to recreate for the final.
