furrymuck exploration
overview
furrymuck is part social, part exploration! and there are hundreds of rooms described by other users in decades past for you to go. here, i will not only go over basic travel options, but some more investigative commands, for when you want to know just a little more about the area you've found.
modes of transport
there are a number of commands for traversing the expanse of furryworld. the most important one to remember is 'gohome' and its aliases (like 'go home' with a space, 'home', 'house', goh'). this allows you to return home from anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye! so if you get lost, don't fret - you can always come home. and if you don't have a home just yet, just use 'bandstand' or 'goband' to go to the bandstand at the center of the park.
you can use the command 'nexus' (or 'gonexus') to go to the Underground Nexus located beneath the park. this acts as one of many location hubs. typing 'look board' when you arrive there allows you to see options for this location, such as the rules of the nexus, the ascii map of the nexus, and a list of locations accessible here.
there's also a 'taxi' command that summons a taxi to take you places, but keep in mind that some places may not allow you to use this command. you can type 'look sign' once you've boarded to see the various locations you can visit. you may want to visit the jumproom (with 'jr') from the taxi if you want more places to go from here!
additionally, there is a 'tport' command. type 'tport' by itself or 'tport #help' to see its usage.
well, i'm there, now what?
you can do a lot of things once you find an interesting room, such as:
- smell it (smell here)
- look around (look) - up, down, east, west, et cetera..
- sit down (sit)
- look at its map, if it has one (map)
- eat things (eat)
- check the room contents (contents)
although some exits are obvious, other times you might find it difficult to figure out where you can go from a given place. you can always try brute-forcing some directions (or try looking in those directions first!) or try 'out', 'back', or 'leave', if you think you've gotten stuck.
more niche commands
you can use 'run' to run in a series of directions if you know the direct path to somewhere. format it as 'run' followed by each exit separated by commas (ie. run n,w,n,up,n).
there's also 'nav', which allows you to locate another room nearby if you know its name and it's within six rooms from your current location. if you know there's a clearing nearby, you can say 'nav clearing', and it will look for any room with that term in the name and how to get to it.
traveling with friends? did you know you can ride them? use 'handup playername' to offer yourself as a steed. they can accept your request with 'hopon' or 'ride playername' to accept the offer. when they're done, you can either drop them off with 'dropoff playername' or they can 'hopoff' or 'dismount' themself.
