memory in moss
... created 2025-03-01
concept that came to mind spontaneously. the sculpt itself may have taken less time than the actual scene decoration step, honestly. i have really enjoyed defining fat lately, especially body types like mine, and i can only hope i'm doing my own body justice! i kept the extremety detail pretty low, focusing more on the belly and arms and back and such..
i depicted this dogthing with lymphedema, a genetic condition that's plagued me for a while. it causes the legs to swell and become heavy. it's a part of my body that i'm particularly self conscious of, especially because i also carry some heavy scarring from an unrealized silver allergy i discovered when treating an infection. my circulation is particularly awful in that area, so it's always cold, and the added fluid weight causes my walking gait to be a little off-balanced.
anyway, i figured it'd be nice to give this dogthing a body like mine. it's a body that i will always have, and more than anything, i want my body to be treated like a great stone statue carved by an unnamed great artist. this is a statement on how i want people to remember me: peaceful, stable, and content with my inner life. i think it would be nice if i had a statue like this that people could sit by long after i'm gone.
ahh. i still feel like there's more to say about this piece, but i think i hit the high and low notes here. i hope you like it as much as i do. here's the speedmodel and here's the blogpost where i go into step by step detail on how this was constructed.
